Why do some people refuse that theory of evolution. ?

I am confused on how alot of people can not admit that it as at least a very possible explanation to what we are. and also makes sense, especially the theory of darwinism,. Is religion truly obsolete, why isnt opics. wht isnt there more public discussions on these topics..
