Atheists: Do you acknowledge that a man named "Jesus of Nazareth" existed 2,000 years ago?
Yes, I do believe there was a Jesus of Nazareth, likely more than one. The name Jesus was incredibly common for it's time, so it is very likely that a fellow named Jesus was crucified. Also likely that parts of the New Testament are rather accurate historically speaking. However, I do not believe that he rose from the dead, was the Son of God, etc. Likely the reason for his followers saying so was to reaffirm their own faith, and give them something to hope in. It was rather tough times after all, and everyone needs an idol.
